Wedding

October 24th 2009
After 5 happy years together Stephanie and Andrew were finally married. The event took place at a classy golf course and included 90+ of our most favourite friends and family.

Planning - This was my first mood board-type thing. We used theknot.com's checklist for most of our planning needs.

Theme - We had a black, white and pumpkin themed wedding. There were black slipcovers and black sashes for the chairs (both rented) and the extra sashes proved useful for last minute touches such as draping them over tablecloths as accents or adorning the cupcake table. All dinnerware and tablecloths were white. For the centrepieces we used glass vases with white roses, black lanterns, mini pumpkins and tea lights in little glass holders (from Ikea). We also worked in large pumpkins wherever we could and guests were encouraged to take them with them when they left to carve at home (as Hallowe'en was approachin').

Attire - The men rented tuxes, the ladies chose their own black dresses and I wore an ivory, strapless, sweetheart neckline, mermaid-style dress of alencon lace with a black sash and a simple veil.

Flowers - The ladies and I made our bouqets the night before the wedding with white roses, a few orange accent roses and some orange calla lillies. We used floral wire and black satin ribbon with "pearl" topped pins. The MOB, MOG and all Grandma's carried single long stemmed Calla lillies in lieu of corsages. The men wore single orange calla lillies for boutonniere's.

Photography - We had our engagement and wedding photo's done for free (a huge money saver and a sweet favour) by our friend.

Food - We had a yummy buffet provided by the venue. Instead of a cake we had chocolate cupcakes topped with chocolate or cream cheese icing lovingly baked by my Nana and Grandma. We also had a candy bar where guest's could use black take-out boxes trimmed with white ribbon to "Trick-or-Treat" for things like Rockets, Tootsie Rolls and mini chocolate bars.

Guest Favour - Instead of doing guest favours we made a donation to a BC animal rescue. (Save the puppies!)

Honeymoon - We honeymooned at Harrison Hotsprings Resort and Spa and had the most relaxing time of our lives.
